DFKH 2021

DFKH 2021

The seventh year of the festival maintained and deepened the line of presentation of independent theatre in the Czech and European context, focusing on productions unknown to Czech audiences, and developed the festival’s vision as a working platform at the beginning of the theatre season. In addition to the above objectives, the DFKH has succeeded in providing support to independent sector artists from countries where civil society is either emancipating or gaining in importance and where art is becoming an expression of democratisation and is therefore persecuted. The host countries, whether digital or offline, were: Belarus, Poland and Ukraine. DFKH 2021 reflected, on the one hand, the geopolitical changes in the countries of the former Eastern bloc, where there are worrying tendencies to reduce artistic diversity, and, on the other hand, the global coronavirus pandemic, which fundamentally threatens the existence of culture.
