If Hans loved me, he would rescue me.

Based on the crime story of the actual Fritz Haarmann, the contemporary Marius von Mayenburg develops a fragile study of the human desire for love. “I killed him so he wouldn't leave me”, says the killer.
In a series of clipped, dramatically concise scenes, underlain by original songs, the production searches through expressive gesture and grotesque, ironic hyperbole for an answer to basic existential questions. Where does evil come from, and what forms does it take? Which is worse, an individual murder or millions of casualties on battlefields and in concentration camps? What is the extent of loneliness and the ability to love in today’s world? Will love or goulash save us?
