Y: ONCE UPON A TIME
We open up space for stories and fantasies that stand above our everyday life. We return to our childhood days, when fairy tales represented the only possible future for all of us. The characters from these stories are always with us – we want to know them, we want to become them. What can be experienced tonight, who can we become tonight, who can we meet tonight?
The theatre has always been a bit of a game, but it maintains a very close relationship with the grand narrative of time. The composed evening Y: Once Upon a Time is grounded in the traditions of classical theatre, which enacts stories and myths. They can be planetary narratives of extinction, crisis, or vice versa, that of growth and happiness. They can also be dreams of aspiring individuals hungry for power. And finally, they can be gossip passed on in a whisper. Our everyday lives, despite the appearance of fragmentation, are fundamentally shaped by these stories. Because there is a very short distance from “as if” to “here and now”.
