Some sexual fantasies remain in the realm of dreams, while others are realized. Most often, their fulfillment is made possible by sex workers: appearing in pornographic films, working in nightclubs and on webcams, meeting live clients, creating post-pornographic art. In the play "Sex, work and dreams", we reverse the perspective and ask about the fantasies of those who usually fulfill other people's fantasies.

The play's script is based on surveys sent out to sex workers and interviews with industry representatives. "Sex, work and dreams" features both actresses and performers, as well as people with experience of sex work. Talking about sexual fantasies has emancipatory potential for us: it's a conversation about understanding others' boundaries, about mutual respect and a willingness to create a space of trust and safety for someone else. It's also a conversation about the body and the body at work - we ask why some stage professions (like acting) are idealized and others (like striptease, pole dancing, erotic dancing) stigmatized, why performing on a theatrical stage can be a high-risk task, and why sex work sometimes turns out to be better regulated and more transparent than theater.
