BEARLAND is another production in a series in which I explore my relationship to the political situation in Slovakia – and, at the same time, to myself within its context. I decided that the next step would be to examine my relationship to the present through the dreams I have.
I discovered that even in dreams, I can't escape reality. Dreams are not just translations of reality – they are its mirror, but exaggerated, amplified, distorted. They are full of violence, threat, and anxiety. They express unspoken desires and fears.
I began systematically recording my dreams. Certain motifs keep recurring: a body that transforms. A nameless rage. And bears.
The performance explores how both political and personal realities manifest in dreams. How censorship works, how violence, frustration, power, and powerlessness operate. What does it mean to be the one who is threatened? And what does it mean to be the one who threatens?
Home is where they shoot you.
