A story about New Year's Eve somewhere abroad, in an unspecified city with unspecified characters... All we know about them is that they share the same nationality, that they are two men who share a basement room and have been living in exile for a long time. They are complete opposites – an intellectual and a provincial fool, two different worlds immersed in eternal class conflict, which beyond the borders of their homeland turns into a necessity of coexistence. Is it possible to reconcile these two worlds? Are these two worlds really so far apart? Will the specter of the past and the necessity to adapt to a new reality reveal an unexpected truth for both of them?
OLDstars z. s. is an independent artistic group bringing together over a hundred students, mainly from secondary and higher art schools. In the twenty years of its existence, it has staged over 300 student productions and organized 18 annual theater festivals. These include the OLDstars on the ROUD charity festival and the Student Theater Festival at the Divadlo v Celetné theater in Prague. It organizes theater tours and other cultural projects throughout the country. As part of their activities in Prague, they operate two venues in Vršovice: the HarOLD basement theater on Charkovská Street and the H2/O Apartment Theater on nearby Košická Street. They regularly participate in student theater festivals and the traditional Theater Night. The idea of OLDstars is based on the specifics of student—that is, generational—theater.
