"If we were to make a performance about us, what would it look like?"
This audiovisual documentary performance explores the relationship between a grandson and his grandfather against the backdrop of the parliamentary and presidential elections that began to shift Slovakia's foreign policy orientation.
An art student living in Prague and a retired agronomist from Horní Jatov meet on a couch in a three-generation household to discuss the past, present and future of the world. A search for the possibilities of a society-wide dialogue while visiting their grandfather.
Can politics really be kept out of the family?
KAROL FILO is a theatre and film director and performer from Slovakia, a student of DAMU in Prague. His work has been presented in theatres, festivals and galleries in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, the Netherlands, France, Germany, Hungary and Martinique.
Filo explores the personal histories of individuals whom he transforms into dramatic characters whose experiences also reflect social issues, politics and global events. He focuses on uncovering the narratives and tendencies that dominate our thinking and help maintain the status quo using documentary methods, speculative imagination and direct interventions into reality.
